A thousand homes were completed in Värmland in 2020 and at least as many were started, at the same time there is a housing shortage in eight of the county's municipalities.

The municipalities also have continued strong confidence in the construction and the forecast indicates that more than 1,500 homes will be started in 2021.

"Tough for those who are far from the housing market"

At the same time, housing prices have risen sharply in Värmland.

According to Mäklarstatistik, the price of condominiums rose 35% and of villas 18.3% in the last 12 months.

For the groups that had difficulty finding housing before the pandemic, the situation has become even more difficult.

This applies, among other things, to young unemployed people.
