Four young men were charged on Monday at Gothenburg District Court, suspected of a serious drug crime.

All deny, but the evidence is extensive.

The preliminary investigation of about 2,700 pages shows, according to police and prosecutors, how the men sold cocaine to what is called party addicts throughout Greater Gothenburg.

- What stands out is the number of identified buyers, and that in the eyes of people these have been ordinary hard-working families with good finances, without a known addiction.

They often have small children and live in well-to-do areas, says Johan Ekström, investigator at the reconnaissance section in Greater Gothenburg.

A large proportion previously unpunished

Many of the cocaine buyers have never had anything to do with the police before, but still buy drugs regularly.

- Thus, they sponsor and fertilize a criminal network.

In this case, it applies to the Backanätverket, says Johan Ekström.

Police scouts have documented the extensive trade, which took place every day of the week, for a couple of months before striking the sellers.

Investigators have also come across five telephones and through these tracked 745 suspicious buyers.

Buyers have visits to wait

Around thirty people have been arrested in the act.

Another fifty have been visited by the police and the remaining buyers will be contacted in the future.

- Many buyers go home and have a stomach ache now.

But I think it feels good.

The best thing they can do is stop using drugs.

If they want help with that, there is help to be had, says Johan Ekström.

Has worked systematically

The buyers must have simply called and ordered cocaine, after which the sellers either drove it home to them or to another agreed address.

For a couple of months, the scouts were able to follow the entire traffic and document the transactions.
