Police officers from the Civil Guard found the lifeless body of a minor in the Canal Imperial de Aragón this Sunday who was missing from his home since 8:00 p.m. on Saturday in

the Zaragoza town of Gallur

.

Sources from the Armed Institute have explained that at 6:00 am they have been informed of the disappearance of

Abdedamad,

13, for which they have immediately set up a search device.

According to the aforementioned sources, the operation has resulted in the discovery of a T-shirt and slippers near the Imperial Canal, garments that have been identified by the boy's father.

Three patrols and members of the Group of Specialists in Underwater Activities of the Civil Guard have participated in the search device, who have been the ones who

have found the body of the minor

less than 300 meters from the place where he allegedly submerged in the water, in the kilometer 31 of the aforementioned canal as it passes through Gallur.

Apparently, the boy

jumped into the water to relieve the heat

yesterday and

the current dragged him.

According to sources from the Civil Guard, while waiting for the autopsy to be carried out on the body, the death would have occurred by

drowning.

Three days of mourning

The Gallur City Council has decreed three days of mourning and has suspended a performance of the jota school scheduled for this Sunday on the occasion of the cultural activities scheduled for the patron saint festivities in honor of San Antonio.

The family of the drowned boy lived in a humble area of Gallur, a population of about 2,780 inhabitants, where he had only been there for a few months, since he had previously lived in another nearby municipality.

The tragic death of Abdedamad has caused great consternation in the town, where relatives and friends have traveled from Zaragoza and other points to shelter the parents and two brothers of the deceased.

Apparently, according to some testimonies, the teenager did not know how to swim.

Other deaths

The Imperial Canal, passing through Gallur, has been the scene of other drowning deaths.

On March 8, 2019, a vehicle carrying a couple crashed into the water.

The man, José Manuel GP, 28,

managed to rescue and bring the woman to safety,

which he deposited on the shore.

However, when he lost his strength, he sank into the waters of the canal and was drowned.

In June 2011, the first day of the local festivities, a car.

occupied by four young people, it rushed into the section of the canal that runs through the urban area and one of them, the driver, could no longer surface, for which he

died drowned.

The other three occupants managed to open the vehicle's doors, and swam up the steep and slippery banks of the canal.

Then, without time to recover from the shock, they plunged back into the murky waters of the river in search of the companion who had not managed to get out, but could not extract him from the car.
