“A set of practical steps was discussed in the interests of strengthening the ceasefire around the Gaza Strip, providing humanitarian assistance to the civilian population and restoring civilian infrastructure.
Special attention was paid to the tasks of creating an atmosphere for establishing a dialogue between the Palestinians and Israelis on final status issues based on the decisions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly, including the principle of "two states" - Palestine and Israel, coexisting in peace and security.
The central role in all these efforts of the Middle East Quartet of international mediators comprising Russia, the United States, the UN and the EU was emphasized, ”the statement says.
The Foreign Ministry said that "the Russian side gave a high assessment to the efforts of the UN, as well as Egypt to end the military confrontation in May this year, which Moscow energetically contributed."
The ministry added that "in order to activate the consolidated steps to promote the second-tier banks, the importance of the early convening of a meeting of the Quartet at the ministerial level, as well as expanding its coordination with interested regional players, was noted."
