According to Anders Thornberg, many of the detainees' top figures in organized crime are people who have previously been difficult to call in.
- I am proud of the police authority's efforts.
The leaders behind the serious organized crime in our country, we have decimated them.
It's confusion, they had not expected the police to access them.
They are people who never touch weapons, who never hold on to drugs.
The effect of the efforts on crime in Sweden is, however, likely to be delayed, Anders Thornberg believes.
- As long as the recruitment is greater than the number we incapacitate, this will continue.
The young people who looked up to these individuals are confused right now, but we have already seen signs that young criminals want to fill the place.
- It is now we have the chance to ensure that the full force of society is used to interrupt the recruitment of these gangs, so that the young people see something other than crime as the only chance ahead.
