The Knesset, the Israeli parliament, has voted to trust the new government of Israel, which for the first two years will be led by Yamina's leader, Naftali Bennett, and who oust Benjamin Netanyahu after 12 years in power.

A new page opens up in Israel, a "coalition of change" made up of parties of different ideological orientations united by the common intent to oust Netanyahu, the longest-serving prime minister in Israeli history (15 years in government, 12 of which in a row). The new government will consist of eight parties: Yamina, Prime Minister Yair Lapid,

Yesh Atid, New Hope, the Labor Party, Meretz, the United Arab List, Kahol Lavan and Yisrael Beiteinu.

The new government won the confidence of 60 to 59 votes and one abstention, ending two years of political paralysis in which the country had to face four elections.

Naftali Bennett, a former ally of Netanyahu who has become a rival, becomes prime minister and Netanyahu remains at the head of the Likud, leader of the opposition.

During the vote, Netanyahu remained seated and silent.

After the green light he gave Bennett a handshake.

Previously, centrist Miki Levy had been elected as the new president of Parliament.

The vote was the first to make a candidate of the new majority prevail.

Levy - who had 67 votes out of 120 - takes over from Likud's Yariv Levin.
