Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert won their second doubles title at Roland Garros on Saturday, beating the Kazakh team Alexandr Bublik-Andrey Golubev 4-6, 7-6 (7/1), 6-4 in the final.
The French pair, who had already won all four Grand Slam tournaments, won their fifth major title after the US Open 2015, Wimbledon 2016, Roland-Garros 2018 and the Australian Open 2019.
The victory took a long time to emerge, but with the help of the public, who chanted "Go the Blues!"
As in Davis Cup, Mahut and Herbert managed the decisive break to lead 4-3 in the last set, then 5-3 after Mahut confirmed on his face-off.
And Herbert concluded two games later on a winning serve.
The tricolor duo's record is breathtaking: together, Mahut and Herbert have also won 7 of the 9 Masters 1000. They only lack those of Madrid and Shanghai as well as the Olympic Games and the Davis Cup.
After a falling out and a separation, the two men found themselves at the end of a catastrophic US Open 2019 (elimination in the first round).
And they quickly found the way to victory by chaining a few weeks later the titles at the Masters 1000 in Paris, then at the Masters at the end of the year in London.
