As noted by the American media, the Russian side reacted positively to the initiative to hold a joint press conference, but the White House rejected this idea, because "it remembers how Putin surpassed Trump in Helsinki."

The publication also adds that the corresponding US decision is also aimed at depriving Putin of an "international platform" similar to the one that was in Helsinki in 2018.

Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said why a joint press conference of Putin and Biden will not take place after the June 16 meeting in Geneva.

At the same time, Peskov said that Putin intends to talk to journalists after talks with the US head in Geneva.

Biden also intends to speak separately with the press after this meeting.
