On June 12, a new round of political director-general meeting of the Joint Commission on the Iranian Nuclear Comprehensive Agreement was held in Vienna, Austria.

Ambassador Wang Qun, Chinese negotiator and permanent representative to the United Nations in Vienna, attended the meeting and explained China's position.

Wang Qun said that the U.S.-Iran resumption negotiations have lasted for 11 weeks and have entered the final stage, but the lifting of sanctions and related issues are still delayed in the negotiations.

Iran’s concern over this issue is legitimate.

To resume the implementation of the comprehensive agreement, the United States must first lift its unilateral sanctions on Iraq and long-arm jurisdiction sanctions on third parties.

The US embargo on conventional weapons in Iraq is also inconsistent with the comprehensive agreement and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and should be completely lifted.

The United States announced on the 10th that it would lift several sanctions against Iran, but it feels somewhat twitchy. Now that the United States has made the political decision to return to the comprehensive agreement, it should completely, cleanly and completely lift all relevant sanctions.

At the same time, relevant parties should also take effective measures through negotiations to prevent the relevant parties from retreating at will and resuming sanctions.

Wang Qun said that in the final stage of the current negotiations, it is hoped that all parties concerned will redouble their efforts, uphold a rational and pragmatic attitude, and reach a comprehensive and effective package plan to resume compliance as soon as possible.
