Recently, according to US media reports, people familiar with the matter revealed that due to possible contamination issues, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) informed Johnson & Johnson that approximately 60 million doses of the company’s new crown vaccine would be scrapped.

According to reports, the FDA said on the 11th that two batches of Johnson & Johnson vaccines have been approved for use, but several batches of vaccines are "not suitable for use", and the remaining batches are still under evaluation.

The New York Times quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that about 60 million doses were discarded.

Johnson & Johnson confirmed that two batches of vaccines were approved for use on the same day, but did not comment on the FDA's request to scrap 60 million doses of vaccines.

Previously, a vaccine manufacturer in Baltimore, USA, mixed up two different new crown vaccine components, resulting in the scrapping of 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

The FDA is concerned that other batches of vaccine produced at the same time as the contaminated vaccine may also have been contaminated.
