The ability to hide the number of likes on Instagram has been tested since 2019, but now the features are available for everyone.

What has changed are two settings.

Users can both hide likes on their own posts and on posts shared by others.

According to CEO Adam Mosseri, Instagram now hopes that the new functions will "make people feel good about the time they spend on the platform".
