The new boat in Piteå was unveiled on Friday afternoon and has been named Sparbanken Nord, which has also donated the boat.

This happened at a ceremony out at Renöhamn where the Sea Rescue Society has its station building.

Those responsible believe that the new boat will provide increased security and a safer living archipelago.

- This is a boat that is built for sea rescue.

An eight meter boat with a diesel engine and water jet.

We will be able to use the boat both when it is hard weather and high seas but also when it is a little shallower, says Johan Hedin, volunteer lifeguard in Piteå.

Can we feel safe this summer out in the archipelago?

-

Of course we can!

But you must also do your homework and use a life jacket, keep the boat in order and service it properly.

But of course we come out and help if something should happen, says Lars Lundberg, station manager for the Sea Rescue Society in Piteå.
