Thirtieth femicide out of 146 counted in 2019, the murder of Julie Douib had aroused great emotion throughout France in 2019, leading to the organization of a "Grenelle" of violence against women.

"Justice for Julie": the trial of the ex-companion of Julie Douib, accused of having murdered her in 2019 - a feminicide which had sparked a vast mobilization against violence against women - opened Thursday in Bastia .

"What he made Julie Douib live, he had already made him live in Saveria", assured before the Assize Court the director of investigation, referring to a previous companion of the accused.

The poignant testimony of a neighbor

"She told me 'He killed me'," said a neighbor of Julie Douib, in front of the Bastia assizes.

"Julie, she was lying on the balcony with her head in an empty flowerpot. She was moaning. At one point she looked at me and she said 'He killed me', those were her. last words, "said, moved, the neighbor below Julie Douib.

Hearing her testimony, the victim's father left the courtroom.

Thirtieth femicide out of 146 counted that year, this femicide had aroused great emotion in France and resulted in the organization of the Grenelle Violence Against Women.
