• Resolution The European Parliament condemns Morocco's actions for using migration as a political weapon

The president of the Moroccan House of Representatives,

Habib el Malki,

considered today that the resolution voted hours before by the European Parliament "is an opportunity to insist on the Moroccan nature of Ceuta", in an extraordinary meeting called to study with the parliamentary groups the result of that vote.

"Ceuta is not European territory, but Moroccan land located in the territory of the Kingdom of Morocco," said El Malki without being asked by journalists and in response to the resolution of the European Parliament, which in point 3 expressly said that "Ceuta is an external border of the EU, whose protection and security are the responsibility of the entire European Union ".

El Malki, who made these statements at the beginning of the meeting with the heads of the parliamentary groups and in the presence of some journalists, insisted that

Ceuta "is part of the colonial past" of Spain in Morocco.

On the other hand, El Malki considered that the resolution adopted today by the European Parliament "is moderate, and presents a great difference between the first draft and the adopted text";

According to him, this has been

an achievement of Moroccan diplomacy,

both official and parliamentary, which has taken care to remind its European partners of the strategic nature of Euro-Moroccan relations.

The resolution of the European Parliament "represents a failure for Spain in its attempt to Europeanize its bilateral crisis with Morocco", but added that Morocco wants Spain to return to its strategic partnership with Morocco

"provided it finds" wisdom "

and that" they respect each other. the foundations of the peoples, including territorial integrity ".

In this regard, he announced in the next few days a

communication campaign before all the parliaments of the world,

"including the European ones", to explain the Moroccan position.
