- It says a lot about the work situation, and I think you can call it a mass exodus, says teacher Sanna Lehtonen, one of those who leave.

About ten teachers, about a quarter of the teaching staff, have resigned.

And if you add up retirements and employees who do not get their contracts extended, half of the staff will disappear.

Difficult to get a hearing from the management

Sanna Lehtonen believes that the staff loss is due to the fact that large parts of the staff do not feel that the management is listening.

Problems with the culture of silence are another factor that is highlighted, and that the workload is too high.

That there is dissatisfaction at school is confirmed by Kristina Lundbäck, assistant.

- The dropout of teachers has been caused by work environment problems.

Already at Christmas, the union said that the municipality must take action, but the staff must have thought that it had happened too little and too late, she says.

"We can not solve everything at once"

Stefan Grybb, head of school in Håbo municipality, regrets that teachers are not satisfied.

He has set up a 12-point program for an attractive school in 2030.

- We can not solve everything at once, and we must have a plan, he says.

At Västerängsskolan, all positions are now filled, according to Stefan Grybb.

- Many of those who have resigned have long experience, and when they are now replaced, there will be an increased workload for regular staff. And it will take time and good leadership to get a good business, says Kristina Lundbäck.
