Dogmatix, the faithful four-legged companion of Asterix and Obelix, will be the hero of a comic book to be published on June 16, the Albert René editions announced Thursday.

The first volume of the Idéfix et les Irréductibles series will be entitled "Pas de quartier pour le latin!".

Dogmatix, as fans of the most famous Gaul in fiction know, originated in the city founded on an island in the Seine which has today become Paris.

"Two years before Idéfix met Asterix and Obelix at the exit of a delicatessen from Lutèce in + Le Tour de Gaule d'Astérix +, this first album takes its readers to the streets of the city", explained the publisher. in a press release.

Dogmatix and the Irreducibles is also the concept of an animated series of 52 episodes to be broadcast on France Télévisions from September.

Despite the disappearance of its creators René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, Asterix remains by far the most successful comic book series in France.

Over the past 15 years, he has occupied four of the top five places in book sales, with volumes 35, 36, 38 and 37 of his adventures.

All of them have exceeded 1.6 million copies, according to the GfK institute.
