Clémentine Autain, Member of Parliament and head of the LFI list for regional regions in Ile-de-France, on Thursday asked the government for financial resources to the tune of one billion euros to fight against violence against women and in particular feminicides.
"What we are asking for is a billion (euros) to fight violence against women because what we need is an investment across the chain," she said. on franceinfo, calling for "training police and justice professionals" as well as health personnel, to facilitate access to housing and accommodation for women victims and to conduct awareness campaigns.
"The problem is not the direction in which the measures of the government are going," she said, welcoming the deployment of electronic bracelets and serious telephones, "the problem is that we are loudly demanding financial means to have a coherent and effective policy ".
"We can stack the laws, interesting measures too, but if there are not these financial and human resources that are in place, then we will not be able to truly fight and take this major issue at the root. feminicides and violence against women, ”she argued.
Ms. Autain was speaking as the trial of the ex-companion of Julie Douib, murdered in Ile-Rousse (Haute-Corse) in March 2019, opened Thursday in Bastia.
