The first consequence of this

court decision

is the immediate liquidation of the three organizations concerned, including the Anti-Corruption Fund. Attempting to resuscitate them is punishable by ten years in prison, the funding of these organizations is punishable by eight years, and participation in their activities is punishable by six years in prison. In addition, any mark of support including on social networks is also considered an offense punishable by a fine or a penalty of 15 days of detention.

Added to this is the impossibility of participating in the next elections - the legislative elections of September for all members and supporters of the organizations, and even the presidential election of 2024 for the leaders of the organizations concerned.

The Duma recently adopted this law which prohibits all those who have worked with an extremist organization, even in the past, from participating in the next elections

," Ksenia Fadeeva, elected from the opposition in the Duma of Tomsk, Siberia, told RFI. .

For example, I was planning to run for the legislative elections next September, but now it's impossible

”.

Prohibited publications

The law on extremist organizations recently - and forcedly - passed by the Russian parliament is retroactive and targets all those who have supported navalnyst organizations over the past year, even through a simple tweet.

Hundreds of thousands of people are therefore potentially deprived of their eligibility rights.

Finally, another constraint provided for by law: the Russian media will now have to specify the "extremist" character of navalnyst organizations each time they mention it - without forgetting of course to add their status of "agents of the foreigner ”!

The publications of extremist organizations are also likely to be banned: as the Meduza website reminds us, a medium that disseminates them may be punished with a fine of up to one million rubles, around 11,000 euros or a suspension. of several months.

For example, the video published by the Anti-Corruption Fund on “Putin's Palace”, which accused the Russian president of having had a sumptuous palace built on the shores of the Black Sea, could thus join the list. "extremist" content that will be prohibited to mention.
