June 10, 2021 The candidate of 'Fuerza Popular' for the presidency of Peru, Keiko Fujimori, presented a motion to cancel 802 scrutinizing colleges where her formation would have revealed irregularities concerning a total of 200 thousand votes, which the candidate hopes `` to be withdrawn from the final count. ''. Fujimori also announced other actions involving a total of 300,000 votes. There are therefore still a total of 500,000 at stake, according to Fujimori. Two days ago the rival Pedro Castillo had proclaimed himself the winner of the elections with 50.2% of the votes against the 49.7% of Fujinori, daughter of the former head of state Alberto Fujimori, with 99.041% of the ballots.

The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) has not yet officially announced the results, which did not stop Pedro Castillo from chanting victory after he was credited with 50.2% of the votes against Fujimori's 49.7%: a difference of 73,839 votes. Meanwhile, the slow process of reviewing the controversial cards has begun, Keiko Fujimori's last hope of shortening the disadvantage. Careful examination of the contested votes will delay the final result even more. "I think Castillo will win, but we have to wait for the Onpe to declare the official result," said analyst Hugo Otero.

To make sure everything goes well for their candidate, hundreds of Pedro Castillo supporters gathered in front of the buildings of the National Electoral Jury, Peru's electoral control body. "We are there in a preventive manner so that the disputed votes are properly checked," one of them, Juan Gustavo Diaz, told AFP. In the center of the Peruvian capital, supporters of Keiko Fujimori also gathered to support their candidate. Some of their banners could read "Communism no, democracy yes" or even "Until the last vote".

The press attacks Fujimori accusing her of responsibility for the ungovernability of the country

Peru Libre today released a note in which it denounced the theses of Fuerza Popular, Fujimori's party, relating to irregularities and fraud, as unfounded. The executive, with a conservative orientation, is accused in the text of "obstructionism and responsibility in the ungovernability" of the country in recent years.

Castillo declares himself the winner

"This victory is neither mine nor of Peru Libre but of the people who resisted and fought for centuries for a true and sincere change": this was written during the night by Padro Castillo, rural teacher and trade unionist, one step away from election to the presidency. Castillo's statements were posted on his Facebook page alongside photographs of the teacher and trade unionist greeting a crowd gathered in the square to celebrate.

Estimados / as hermanos / as: agradezco a quiénes siguen resistiendo en las calles.

No caigamos en provocaciones de quienes quieren ver este país en el chaos.

Por ello, hacemos un llamado de paz y tranquilidad.

Sigamos firmes y alegres en esta lucha final que es de todos los peruanos.
