Four people were injured in a collision between several cars on the A67 near Rüsselsheim (Groß-Gerau district). A 25-year-old man hit a car on Wednesday evening at the end of a traffic jam near a construction site and pushed several vehicles into one another, the police said. As a result of the car crash, three drivers were slightly injured and one passenger was seriously injured. All four people were taken to a hospital. The 25-year-old man and another driver were uninjured. The A67 was temporarily blocked at the transition to Autobahn 60 in the direction of Mainz.

Gross-Gerau.

In Groß-Gerau, an 80-year-old man and his 52-year-old son wanted to chlorinate their pool and triggered a chemical reaction. Instead of just mixing chlorine, the two accidentally dumped sulfuric acid with chlorine and water in a 200-liter barrel in their garage, the police said on Thursday. This resulted in a chemical reaction that produced gas. The two men inhaled the gas but were unharmed. According to the police, the contents of the barrel were then further diluted by the fire brigade and, after consulting the sewage treatment plant, pumped it into the sewer system.

A cyclist was hit by a car in Einhausen (Bergstrasse district) and seriously injured. The accident occurred on Wednesday evening at an intersection, the police said. The cyclist was taken to a hospital in a rescue helicopter.

Fulda.

A drunk truck driver crashed his vehicle against a guardrail near Fulda, causing property damage of 30,000 euros. The 61-year-old man was on the road 27 from Künzell in the direction of Bronnzeller Kreisel (district of Fulda) on Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of his vehicle shortly before the Kaiserwiese exit, as the police announced on Thursday.
