At the beginning of the eight-day trip to Europe, he praised the United States for its firm commitment to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and warned Russia.

Biden said, "This is my first overseas visit as the President of the United States. I will attend the G7 summit, then the NATO summit, and then meet Putin to let him know what I want him to know."

Biden not only talked about the restoration of US allies in Europe, but said they are the cornerstone of global security.
He also emphasized that he will not shrink from the meeting with Putin.
"We do not seek to conflict with Russia," Biden said. "We want a stable and predictable relationship... But I have made it clear that if the Russian government engages in harmful activities, the United States will be strong and meaningful. Respond in a way."
Biden said that he is determined to rebuild transatlantic relations and reshape relations with Russia.
