During a telephone conversation with President of the European Council Charles Michel, Vladimir Putin discussed a number of issues, including the prospects for certification of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in Europe, as well as mutual trips of citizens.

"The issues of combating the spread of coronavirus infection were touched upon, including the prospects for certification in the EU of the Russian drug Sputnik V and the provision of conditions for mutual trips of citizens, subject to anti-epidemic restrictions," the Kremlin press service said after the conversation.

As a reminder, Russia applied to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to register Sputnik V in the EU on January 29.

At the end of April, it became known about the completion of the first stage of the vaccine examination.

In addition, in early June, RDIF announced that it had not received any criticism from the EMA.

Start of Sputnik V vaccination in Slovakia

Vaccination with the Russian drug "Sputnik V" begins in Slovakia on June 7, the Ministry of Health of the republic reports.

As TASS clarifies with reference to the department, vaccinations with the Russian vaccine will be done in stages in different regions of the country.

Recall that Slovakia received a batch of Sputnik V vaccine on March 1, 2021.

The republic became the second country in the EU to use this Russian drug (the first was Hungary).

Registration of those wishing to be vaccinated with a Russian drug opened earlier for residents of the republic aged 18 to 60 years.

According to the "Slovak Radio", 5 thousand people signed up for the procedure in a few days.

In Russia, the Sputnik V vaccine was registered in August 2020.

Since then, the drug has been approved for use in 67 countries with a total population of over 3.5 billion people.

In addition, on June 7, it became known that the Russian single-component vaccine "Sputnik Light" was registered in the Republic of Congo.

This is stated in the official statement of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

The fund also recalled that in March of this year, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Congo registered the Sputnik V vaccine.

The drug was approved for use under the fast track procedure.

"We welcome the decision of the Ministry of Health to also approve the Sputnik Light drug, which will provide the Republic of Congo with access to another safe, effective and affordable Russian vaccine," the RDIF press service quotes a statement from the head of the fund, Kirill Dmitriev.

Meanwhile, Serbia spoke about the prospects for exporting the Sputnik V vaccine produced in the republic.

The chairman of the National Assembly (Parliament) of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, spoke on this issue, recalling that "Serbia will become the only country in Europe that will produce the Russian vaccine."

“Of course, if the production capacity allows export, then we will sell it to everyone,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He also added that at the moment it is not known how many times people will be forced to be vaccinated.

“If the pandemic continues for another year, they will be forced to receive additional doses of the drug, because the antibodies have already run out,” he explained his point of view.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, over 140.6 million laboratory tests for coronavirus were performed over the entire period of the pandemic, including 188 thousand in the last day.

527 364 people remain under medical supervision.

The largest number of new cases of coronavirus is still recorded in Moscow - 3266 per day.

The leading regions in terms of this indicator also included St. Petersburg (854) and the Moscow region (787).

The head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, said that the mortality rate in more than half of the Russian regions has decreased to levels recorded before the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the minister, such results were achieved, among other things, thanks to the prevention of coronavirus and medical examination.

“Today, more than half of the regions have reduced (mortality rates. -

) to the level of the beginning of 2020.

And in 2020, in the first four months, there were the lowest mortality rates in history, and COVID-19, of course, radically changed the situation, "TASS quotes Murashko.

The minister noted that when undergoing medical examination, new diseases are detected in about 15% of patients.

Along with this, measures for the rehabilitation of those who have suffered a new coronavirus infection also play an important role in reducing mortality, Murashko said.

“We see that patients with severe infections and chronic noncommunicable diseases are at risk of premature death.

And of course, they must first come to the doctor's appointment.

And today we demand from hospitals to send lists to the polyclinic for a proactive invitation, ”- explained the head of the Ministry of Health.
