With our correspondent in Bamako,
Kaourou Magassa
Choguel Maïga said, all smiles, at the end of this two-hour meeting, that by Sunday, in agreement with the president of the transition, the executive will present its new Malian government.
He also said that discussions with political parties and civil society organizations are well advanced.
If he concedes the possibility of some difficulties in the arbitrations, he is hopeful of forming a government of broad consensus.
He also promised that within six weeks, a new plan and timeline will be presented to the National Transitional Council, the legislative body that acts as the National Assembly in Mali.
Time is running out for a team not yet set up, because
Choguel Maïga
has also reaffirmed that the transition he wants to be successful will take place on schedule with an end expected in nine months.
Jean Claude Kassi Brou, President of the ECOWAS Commission, welcomed these guarantees.
For him, ECOWAS will support the Malian transition and is reassured after the various consultations conducted by his delegation.
Asked whether the suspension of Mali from the sub-regional organization, he declared that this decision will be taken by the heads of state and conditioned on the progress of the Malian transition.
