Barcelona, 1995. After definitively freeing herself from the label of

"Eduard Fernández's daughter"

to build her own identity as an actress, the winner of the Silver Shell for Best Female Performance at the San Sebastian Festival 2019 is now filming alongside Raúl Arévalo 'Santo', for Netflix.

They have told me to watch out for 'spoilers' if I ask him about his work in 'Santo', his first series as a protagonist.

Let's see, because I'm a novice at this and I'm scared to screw it up. It is a long-running project and I appreciate that, it gives you the opportunity to expand on the character, to prepare it. It seems very kind to me. Someone who shoots many series will tell you that five months working at the end is very exhausting. But for me it is very interesting. I am learning a lot because she is also a very different character from me, which I have never done, a police sub-inspector. The team is wonderful, the cast is the best and it is a blockbuster. It impresses me because I hadn't worked on something that big either.

What do you think of the serial format? Do you think it will end the cinema?

I feel very lucky because I really like cinema and also the world of series, and I feel that I am being able to combine it. I also have film projects afterwards that I am very passionate about. As long as there's a little variety that's fine. I understand movie people who are afraid that this universe will disappear. I am a very cinephile and there is something nostalgic about going and sitting in the armchair, but it is also true that it is giving work to a lot of people. Many friends of mine are more behind the camera. And they say to me: "Damn, we have a lot of gigs ..." And that's really cool.

There are those who maintain that the current audiovisual model is like classic Hollywood: The series platforms manufacture blockbuster products whose benefits then serve to make good cinema or theater possible.

It would be wonderful if you earned 'money' in everything. That by doing a small but high-quality play, he would earn enough to pay the rent. But it turns out that this is not the case. So we have to see how we all survive. If on top of that you do things that you like, then you have already won the lottery.

He has just shot a feature film, 'The cold that burns'.

It's a movie in which I jumped into the pool. It takes place in times of war, she is a woman older than me, from the country, who experiences things that I have not experienced ... Let's see how it turned out. I have faith in her.

With 'The daughter of a thief' he achieved the Silver Shell at the age of 24. Did you notice the curse of early recognition?

It did happen to me a bit, but it was linked to the pandemic. There I have a little excuse. But it's true that I expected an amount of work that ... Or, well, work. Because, in fact, I had nothing at the end. I was very surprised. I must also say that it was very good for me, because something like that helps you to be calm and patient. In this profession being upstairs all the time is very exceptional. It is okay to reconcile with the idea that you are not continually doing and that people know at all times what you are in.

But that does not match the current dictatorship of 'engagement'.

It seems that nowadays young people have to hit it and be stars. That is a very strong pressure, since then you have to maintain that status. It is exhausting. It is good that it begins to normalize, that someone does something for a while, then does nothing and then comes back ... and nothing happens.

What would you say increases that pressure?

Instagram influences a lot. And fashion. All this here and now thing, immediate, that they see me now and see how I am. It is not good that there is so much anxiety. Besides, Instagram leaves your brain 'lazy'.

What is your 'compass' as an actress?

I want to dedicate myself to this for the rest of my life. I would like to, come on. And I see that it is a long-distance race; I do not want to be covered with 30 years. What I want is to be called upon to make beautiful, interesting movies and series, almost all my life. I know I have to be patient and go little by little. If not, I am going to reach 50 years of age not loving this profession, but I am going to hate it with all my might.

What is the password?

I'm sorry to say it a bit like that, but the important thing is the passion for the profession. There are people who want to be an actor and people who want to be a star. There is no problem. Each one has to do what he wants in life and each one dedicates himself for his own benefit. It shows when you dedicate yourself to this because you like it and you are passionate about it, and when someone does not have everything clear and gets lost, they get carried away, by all that superficial thing about Instagram and fashion. That, eye, I have always defended it, because I really like fashion and I am present on Instagram. But, of course, the other weighs a lot and I want to dedicate myself to it since I am a dwarf.

In your case, has having known acting as a trade influenced by your father?

I defend the trade, in the sense of working. I also think that I think that in Spain less value is given to the actor. My father says that in France the 'Mr. Actor' is an eminence. And in Spain it doesn't have to be something very respectable. In addition, I feel that there is little job, there is little desire to work.

In what sense?

It has cost me a lot too. It is true that sometimes they do not claim you. I have a lot of ease and a lot of naturalness and I can put myself in front of the camera and you believe it and all that, but I think there is a moment when that is no longer enough. You have to get used to the character, dedicate time to it. I remember at first asking: "Dad, how do I walk? How do I look?" And the answer was: "What suits the character best." That is a process, and sometimes, due to the exigencies of circumstances, we have to do it too quickly.

Going back to what your father said, why do you think that the acting guild is frowned upon from certain sectors?

Maybe they will throw stones at me for saying this, but it gives me the feeling that the right wing does not care a bit about culture. It has always been like this, it is a historical thing. I like entertainment a lot and I think it's very good that it exists. But, of course, there is a little more balance. That not everything is 'fast food', that there is also quality, stories to tell and messages to transmit. Because I dedicate myself to what I do for many things, not just to entertain; also so that it fills me in some way. If with a film I can help explain something, like 'The daughter of a thief', and that is something rich for me and also for the public, I can send a nice and positive message, and on top of that I make the viewer work a little and I do not treat him as a lazy person, but as someone intelligent who does not get everything so chewed up ...that's great. What happens? That for that they give two dollars. It is unbalanced. It is a pity.

How has the pandemic changed you?

For me it was a very interesting experience, since my case is very special. Just before the pandemic, I had just separated from my ex-boyfriend, who had been together for 10 years. All life, come on. I was at my house and I said to myself: "I can't break down, I have no other option." I connected a lot with myself and it was very nice. Then the core part of the pandemic was spent with my friends. I don't know if I should say it, although the truth is that I don't care. I was with my friend Carla, with my friend Turri, with my friend Pucho and with my friend Rocío. And the truth is that it was much more bearable. Because I was alone and they were two couples, it was very nice.

In addition to being friends with C. Tangana, she has appeared in the video for 'Persecuting us'. How would you define it?

He is super smart. It's wonderful how he treats people. He is very humble, extremely generous, he takes great care of his people. And well, I would never say that he is macho. It happens to me that I have seen him from the inside, but then there is a song in which he says: "whore, whore, whore", of course, I can understand it too. But his art seems to me just as wonderful.

How do you connect with the world?

I live in different realities. Sometimes I live in mine, which is also that of the people who are closest to me: we are all very well: we all have a lot of work, my parents are doing well and my grandparents are doing well, and my people are managing and they are doing well. armed ... But then I am also in contact with many who tell me how screwed up everything is.

What social issue have you turned on lately?

It is outrageous what the rents of all of Madrid cost.

It's crazy.

And it's a shame, because that doesn't help people stay in the city, no matter how much Ayuso says.

And for some there is a lot of work, but it is true that for many others there is very little.

That does not encourage young people much to move forward and to believe that we can make a living from what we like.

I can't complain, but generally they should help us out.
