It could be a European summer fairy tale.

With the approval of the EU Parliament, nothing stands in the way of a digital vaccination certificate in the Schengen area.

That means freedom of travel for vaccinated people despite Corona.

It also means additional protection against the cross-border spread of the infection, as was observed in the summer of last year.

The EU is gradually regaining its normality, which for it also means that trust is being rebuilt that has been lost in recent months.

Since the vaccinated in particular benefit from it, the pressure is now increasing again to vaccinate as many citizens as quickly as possible - and for citizens to be vaccinated.

From a German point of view, the parliament's decision would only have been half the battle if there had been the next setback in the digitization chapter in this country.

But the digital passport for vaccinated people should be issued this Thursday.

For Jens Spahn this is a success story.

For the SPD, on the other hand, it could still take revenge for having made him the target of their election campaign ammunition for the second time. The first time, at the beginning of the vaccination campaign, she did quite well. Now she runs the risk that every QR code that is scanned in the vaccination center reminds of how Germany got through the pandemic in the end: very different from what the SPD draws it, namely all in all very well.
