The Attorney General at the Bangui Court of Appeal Didier Tambo confirmed on Wednesday that Juan Rémy Quignolot,

the Frenchman arrested a month ago,

was being prosecuted for five counts: espionage, illegal possession of weapons of war and hunting, criminal association, endangering state security and conspiracy.

On whose behalf is he accused of spying?

On this point, the Attorney General does not say more.

Still, the investigation was entrusted to a judge and that the accused incurs, according to the prosecutor, hard labor for life.

Juan Rémy Quignolot, that's his name, was placed under a committal and in pre-trial detention.

After being detained at the OCRB, the Central Office for the Suppression of Banditry, he was recently transferred to the Roux camp.

This 55-year-old man was arrested on May 10 in Bangui.

The Central African authorities accused him of having

an enormous quantity of weapons of war in his home

.

In the process, photos of the search of his home were posted on social networks.

An arrest then relayed by Valery Zakharov, the very influential Russian adviser to President Touadéra on internal security.

An arrest and its media coverage quickly denounced by Paris which saw in it "

a manifest instrumentalisation

".
