The Wetterau criminal police had already seized several kilograms of narcotics last Tuesday, June 1st, during an apartment search in the Hoch-Weisel district of Butzbach. A regional train crashed into a fallen tree near Munzenberg (Wetteraukreis). No one was injured in the accident on the Gießen-Butzbach route on Tuesday evening, as announced by the Munzenberg fire department and the Hessische Landesbahn (HLB). The windshield was destroyed and the pantograph on the train was damaged. The engine driver had initiated an emergency brake and ducked in good time. According to the fire brigade, 56 passengers, the engine driver and four train attendants were on board, the HLB reported around 70 passengers. The train occupants were brought to Butzbach station by bus. Since the overhead line was also damaged, the line had to be closed first. The HLB said on Wednesday that it has been single-tracked again since early morning. However, delays must still be expected.

A drunk woman driver hit a tree on the B47 federal road near Bürstadt (Bergstrasse district) and was slightly injured. The 57-year-old woman walked off the right side of the road on Wednesday night and hit the tree, the police said. In the collision, she was trapped and then released by the fire brigade. She was taken to hospital with minor injuries. There was a total write-off on the car. According to the police, an alcohol test showed a blood alcohol level of 1.58. The B47 was closed for two hours due to salvage work.

In the case of a truck fire at a petrol station in Neuenstein (Hersfeld-Rotenburg district) on the A7, according to initial findings, property damage amounting to around 100,000 euros occurred. The vehicle burned out completely on Wednesday night, according to a police spokesman in Fulda. The driver was not in the cab and was therefore uninjured. The cause of the fire was a technical defect.
