On Monday, a proposal for a new Swedish labor law was presented.
Among the proposals were, for example, more exceptions from the "last in first out" rule and permanent employment after only one year.
The Left Party's Member of Parliament, Ali Esbati, believes that there are several good points in the agreement, but that the bad things are serious.
- It is a sad day that a Social Democratic-led government implements a deterioration in job security for many in the Swedish labor market and that they stand there and present it as a modernization when in fact it is the opposite.
Should strengthen security
Among other things, he believes that the extension of the exceptions in the rules of priority is one of the problems, as employment protection in particular has been weakened for a long time for employees.
- If they had wanted to modernize labor law, they would have made sure to strengthen employment security for these groups.
Now the Left Party will take part in the views of those who have not wanted to sign the agreement that forms the basis for the proposals.
- It will be very clear in the future that we will fight on the labor law issues, says Esbati.
The threat remains
The Left Party has previously threatened to overthrow the government due to disagreements over the law.
That threat is not completely gone yet.
- The threat remains in such a way that we follow closely what the trade unions say.
For us, unlike the government, it is very important what LO says and how LO reasons about the proposal that has now been made.
