More resources for less domestic violence.

The prosecutors of the public prosecutors of Bayonne, Lorient, Béthune or even Dijon and Senlis called on Monday in separate press releases to "imperatively endow the prosecutors with additional resources dedicated to this great national cause".

In particular, they require that each prosecutor's office be provided with a specialized assistant or an assistant lawyer dedicated specifically to this cause.

"The fight against domestic violence is one of the major priorities of public prosecutors," they recalled, relaying a call from the National Conference of Public Prosecutors (CNPR).

Recent feminicides point the finger at the judicial institution

"If the echo given to recent feminicides seems focused on the fact that the judicial institution would bear the responsibility, the professionals confronted with these tragedies are well aware that in any situation of violence or intra-family abuse, the lack of vigilance on warning signs is always collective and must question society as a whole, ”writes the prosecutor of the Republic of Draguignan, Patrice Camberou.

“We have received no less than 10 criminal policy circulars in this area since the start of the year, all of which are perfectly legitimate in their objectives but which are mainly based on the prosecution.

To implement them, and thus strengthen our actions in this area which is an essential issue, we need additional resources to meet the challenge to be met ”, underlines Jérôme Bourrier, public prosecutor of Bayonne.

1,000 anti-reconciliation bracelets

The 1,000 anti-reconciliation bracelets available to the Chancellery "are not intended to remain in the drawers," said Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti after the feminicide of Mérignac, committed on May 4 by a man who was serving a sentence for domestic violence but had not been fitted with the device.

Circulars were then sent to magistrates to push for the deployment of the device, available in France since the fall but which the courts were struggling to seize.

The Minister of Justice asked in particular that “all the files” of people convicted of domestic violence be taken over, in order to verify that “the background and the personality” of these men did not make it “necessary” to install a bracelet.

Two inspection missions were launched by the government in order to shed light on the obvious or possible flaws in the monitoring of violent spouses, after the feminicide of Mérignac (Gironde), and that of Hayange (Moselle) on May 23.

The conclusions of the Mérignac inspection are expected on June 10, those of Hayange by June 30 at the latest.
