The text of the bioethics bill has already been read twice in each chamber, and will return to the Senate on June 24.

The deputies will have the last word, for an adoption desired by the government during the summer.

During its second passage before the Senate, mostly on the right, the bioethics bill was cut from its first two articles. The first which opens up assisted reproduction (ART) to single women and couples of women, and the second which allows the self-preservation of oocytes without justifying a medical reason. Currently, assisted reproduction is only open to heterosexual couples for medical reasons.

During this new reading in the National Assembly, the deputies should therefore restore the text to its previous version, authorizing

assisted reproduction

for couples of women and single women, and providing for the reimbursement of this technique by social security.

For female couples, assisted reproduction will be framed by joint recognition of the child before a notary, before birth.

The

bill

also contains provisions which will enable the child to

know his origins

.

On the other hand, deputies and senators refused by mutual agreement the surrogacy.
