In Chad, the congress of the ruling party, the MPS, was canceled by its secretary general just days after it was announced that it would be held next weekend.

Last week the first deputy of the party had convened an extraordinary congress of the formation from June 12 to 13 on the theme "The revitalization of the Patriotic Movement of Salvation".

With, on the one hand, the number two of the party, Ruth Padja Madjidian, the first assistant to the secretary general who is convening an extraordinary congress for this weekend and who is supported by a long list of party personalities and notabilities including Abdel Kerim Idriss Deby, one of the sons of the former president.

On the other hand, the secretary general, Mahamat Zen Bada, who in a press release on Sunday evening cancels this congress by recalling that it is one of his prerogatives.

In Ndjamena, some are wondering about the moment chosen for the holding of this congress, since the general secretary of the party has been in Paris for 10 days for personal reasons.

For a political analyst, the holding of a congress in his absence is undoubtedly a sign that we are trying to rule it out.

Another observer adds that this is even an attempt by the new holders of power to get rid of the old guard.
