The FSB of Russia prevented the activities of a citizen of Ukraine in the interests of the Ukrainian special services.

"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, in the course of the carried out operational-search measures, suppressed intelligence and subversive activities in the interests of the Ukrainian special services of the citizen of Ukraine Semenyaka Oleksiy Petrovich," the message says.

The Russian special service found that the man's activities for a long time were coordinated by the Ukrainian counterintelligence officers - the operative for especially important cases of the second division of the first Directorate of the Department of Counterintelligence Protection of State Interests in the Field of Information Security (DKIB) of the SBU Senior Lieutenant Timur Gasymov and the Deputy Head of the Second Division of the First Directorate DKIB SBU Lieutenant Colonel Igor Chernyak.

“In the course of the poll, the citizen of Ukraine confirmed the fact of maintaining long-term relations with the abovementioned representatives of the national special service, informed them about providing them with diverse consulting assistance,” the FSB said.

"Personal electronic devices" were seized from the detainee, in which they found messages from SBU officers with a proposal to assist in solving their work issues "with the ultimate goal of harming the security of the interests of the Russian Federation."

In addition, an attempt was recorded by third parties located in Kiev to remotely destroy data from Semenyaki's mobile device.

“These actions were identified by the FSB of Russia as a way to protect Semenyaka by his supervisors from the SBU,” the FSB said.

Deletion of data is not allowed, added the intelligence service.

“As a result of the prompt response and urgent measures taken by the FSB of Russia, A.P. Semenyak

did not manage to damage the external security of the Russian Federation.

The stay of a foreigner on the territory of Russia was recognized as undesirable, he was barred from entering the territory of our country for a period of 25 years.

Cases of espionage in favor of Ukraine

On April 22, it became known that FSB officers had detained a citizen of the Russian Federation in Sevastopol suspected of spying for Ukraine.

It was reported that he deliberately collected and transmitted to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense information constituting a state secret about the activities of the Black Sea Fleet, the leakage of which abroad could damage the state's defense capability.

A criminal case was initiated against the detainee under Art.

275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“High treason”).

The FSB pointed out that the activities of the detainee were hostile towards the Russian Federation and were incompatible with the status of a diplomatic worker.

According to the diplomat, he was interested in various databases, in particular, information about registration numbers of cars, criminal cases and registration.

After that, Sosonyuk was recommended to leave the territory of the Russian Federation.

In addition, in March, the Sevastopol City Court found a local resident born in 1955, who was detained back in November 2019, guilty of high treason for transferring classified information to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

She was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony, with restriction of freedom for one year.

According to the investigation, the woman was attracted to secret cooperation with the Ukrainian military department by a representative of a foreign state.

On March 16, a citizen of the Russian Federation Vladislav Esipenko, who worked in the interests of the Ukrainian special services, was detained in Crimea - a man engaged in "reconnaissance and subversive activities" and kept an improvised explosive device in his car.

A criminal case was opened against him.

Subsequently, the media reported that Esipenko worked for one of the projects funded by Washington, "Radio Liberty" *.
