The multiple reports of worried motorists allowed the gendarmerie to find the culprit before a tragedy occurs.
A 40-year-old man was arrested by the gendarmerie, near Heric (Loire-Atlantique), after driving in the opposite direction on the Nantes-Rennes 2x2 lanes, report the Loire-Atlantique gendarmes.
It was around 2 a.m., Monday night to Tuesday, when the driver set off in the opposite direction on the expressway.
The blood alcohol test revealed that he was driving on 1 g of alcohol per liter of blood.
He was also positive for cannabis.
And as if that wasn't enough, he no longer held a driver's license and was behind the wheel of an uninsured vehicle.
Placed in a sobering-up cell and then in police custody, the forty-something was questioned about the facts and explained that he did not remember what really happened.
He will be the subject of a double summons to justice, specifies the Loire-Atlantique gendarmerie.
