The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed that the outgoing Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, "is trying to thwart the formation of the so-called government of change in Israel, by blowing up the situation in Jerusalem and escalating the aggression against its holy sites," while a Palestinian government delegation left for Egypt to discuss the reconstruction of Gaza.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said that “Netanyahu is trying to repeat the experience he went through in the last round of conflict, by inciting the exit of the so-called provocative flags march, the continued tightening of the siege on the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, turning it into a military barracks, and the suppression of citizens, solidarity activists and journalists in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, the last of which is The arrest of the activist, Mona Al-Kurd, in addition to the continuous and escalating incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

The ministry warned against “Netanyahu’s continuation of his expansionist policy, which he has long pursued since ascending to power in 2009,” noting that “the Palestinian people have become the permanent victims of partisan and political conflicts and strife in Israel, which also threatens to thwart international and regional efforts aimed at establishing a cessation of hostilities.” Cease fire and stop the continuous aggression against the Palestinian people.

The ministry called on the international community, and the United States in particular, to "move quickly in order to rein in Netanyahu and his plans."

In turn, the Central Committee of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) called on its cadres and the masses of the Palestinian people to mobilize, next Thursday, to stand united in defense of Jerusalem and Islamic and Christian holy sites, and to confront the settlers’ march. Red, and the Palestinian people have the solid will and determination to resist the occupation in Jerusalem and all the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Central Committee saluted the steadfast Jerusalemites in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Jarrah, Batn al-Hawa and the rest of the regions, stressing that “the will of the Palestinian people is stronger than the Israeli war machine, and that the policy of ethnic cleansing will not pass again.” It held the Israeli government fully responsible for the eruption of the situation in Jerusalem, and in general Palestinian areas.

In addition, Palestinian sources said that a Palestinian government delegation left for Egypt yesterday to discuss the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, following the latest round of tension with Israel.

The sources told the German News Agency (dpa) that the delegation includes the undersecretaries of the ministries of local government, public works, housing and economy in Gaza, while local circles in Gaza estimated the rubble resulting from the destruction of towers, residential buildings and public headquarters at more than 300,000 tons, and it is expected to be removed. The process may take several weeks.

According to the Ministry of Public Works in Gaza, it has been counted 1,200 housing units that were completely destroyed, 1000 housing units that were partially destroyed and severely uninhabitable, and 20 thousand housing units between medium and slight, and the cost of the reconstruction of those housing units was estimated at about $150 million.

On the other hand, yesterday, Benjamin Netanyahu sharply criticized the upcoming government led by Yamina party leader Naftali Bennett, and Yesh Atid party leader Yair Lapid

In a speech, described by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper as “hostile,” Netanyahu said: “It is important to stress that freedom of expression is not incitement, and you cannot view criticism from the right as incitement and criticism, while criticism from the left as a legitimate form of images. Freedom of expression, this is an attempt to portray the right as something dangerous for democracy, and it is a dangerous idea in and of itself for democracy.”

He continued, "We need to understand what is happening here. We are witnessing the largest electoral fraud in the history of the country, and perhaps in the history of democracy. People are right to feel that they are being cheated."

"No one will silence us, when people feel they have been misled, when the national camp strongly opposes a dangerous left-wing government, it is their right and their duty to protest in any legal and democratic way," he added.

Former opposition leader Lapid told Israeli President Reuven Rivlin last week that he had succeeded in forming a coalition of eight parties from across the political spectrum, which would have a slim majority of 61 in the 120-seat Knesset.

It was agreed that the position of Prime Minister would rotate, with Bennett to occupy the position first for two years, and Lapid to follow him for another two years.

The new alliance would put an end to the tenure of Netanyahu, who has been in office since 2009 and had also held the post from 1996 to 1999.
