The RN candidate Marine Le Pen estimated Sunday that a candidacy for the 2022 presidential election of Eric Zemmour, the Figaro journalist and CNews star columnist, would risk weakening "the national camp" in this election.

"I am deeply attached to democracy (...), that only poses one question to me: what is the interest of this candidacy?", Commented Ms. Le Pen during the RTL-Le Figaro-LCI Grand Jury.

According to the head of the RN, "objectively, it is a candidacy that can help Emmanuel Macron to come out on top in the presidential election, which the polls do not grant him for the moment".

Speculations are increasing on the inclinations of Mr. Zemmour to take the step towards active politics, while various personalities are speaking out in support of him.

According to the Politico letter, Mr. Zemmour would also have sought a campaign manager.

When questioned, Ms. Le Pen said she spoke with the journalist.

"I say to him: you are a columnist and a writer respected and listened to. Do not weaken, even a little bit, the national camp to which you are attached", she commented, without wanting to go further. on the content of this exchange.

"Be careful not to look for the sheep with five legs: we think like Marine Le Pen but we do not want to vote for Marine Le Pen", warned the spokesperson for RN Sébastien Chenu on BFMTV, while saying to locate Eric Zemmour in "the camp of the allies".

"Marine Le Pen is today the most capable of winning this election, all the polls show that she is the only one able to beat Emmanuel Macron, (...) the others do not make it to the second round!", he assured.
