Egyptian engineering teams - with the support of heavy machinery and equipment that arrived from Cairo, on Friday - continue their work in Gaza by participating in removing the rubble of a number of buildings destroyed by the Israeli army during its recent aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip.

On Al-Thawra Street, in the center of Gaza City, the engineering teams began removing and removing the rubble of the Ministry of Labor building that was destroyed by the occupation planes on May 16.

Some of those crews also moved to the Rimal neighborhood (west of the city) to remove the rubble of the 13-storey tower of Al-Shorouk, which was destroyed by warplanes on May 12.

These teams are scheduled to continue their work, along with the Palestinian workers, in removing the rubble of destroyed buildings and homes, in preparation for the reconstruction process.

Anadolu Agency quoted Muhammad al-Askari, a spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Works, as saying that the Egyptian crews began working with the Palestinian crews on Friday, as they started with buildings that are dilapidated, and high towers, whose rubble poses a danger and threatens passersby.

Al-Askari explained that the total number of Egyptian equipment and machinery that arrived in the Gaza Strip, on Friday, amounted to about 51 vehicles, including trucks, excavators, sweepers, conveyors and cranes, noting that each vehicle was accompanied by an Egyptian driver, to participate in the process of removing the rubble.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, the total volume of the rubble of destroyed buildings in Gaza ranges between 200,000 and 300,000 tons.

On May 18, Egypt announced providing $500 million for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which was severely destroyed as a result of the 11-day continuous Israeli attack, according to a statement by the Egyptian presidency, which did not explain the details and mechanism of providing this amount.

On April 13, the situation in Palestine erupted as a result of brutal Israeli attacks on the occupied city of Jerusalem, and the escalation spread to the West Bank and the occupied Palestinian territories in 1948, then turned into a military confrontation in the Gaza Strip that ended with a ceasefire at the dawn of last May 21.
