Farida Al Hosani: Vaccinations are effective and there is no preference among them

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection revealed that it allowed those vaccinated with the “Sinopharma” vaccine against “Covid-19” to receive the “Pfizer-Biontech” vaccine, six months after taking the second dose of the first vaccine, with the aim of strengthening the immune system in the face of the disease.

The spokesperson for the health sector in the country, Director of the Department of Communicable Diseases at the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health, Dr. Farida Al Hosani, confirmed that there is no preference among the approved vaccines in the country, noting that they are all safe and effective in preventing complications of the disease.

In detail, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Centers and Clinics and Public Health Sector, Dr. Hussein Al Rand, told Emirates Today that the ministry has provided two options for those receiving the Sinopharma vaccine, the first is to obtain the third stimulating dose of the vaccine itself, and the second is to obtain two doses of Pfizer-Biontech vaccine.

Al-Rand explained that the goal of obtaining the third dose is to strengthen the immune system of people with chronic diseases, and those who suffer from weak immunity, stressing that “obtaining (Pfizer) six months after taking the second dose of (Sinopharma) does not entail any health risks.” .

The country has provided the majority of globally approved vaccines for vaccination against the “Covid-19” virus, and they include four types: the “Sinopharma” vaccine, the “Pfizer-Biontech” vaccine, the “Sputnik V” vaccine, and the “Oxford-AstraZeneca” vaccine.

It made free vaccination available for those wishing to immunize themselves from disease, both citizens and residents, provided that there was no health condition or symptoms that would prevent this.

Al Hosani called on community members wishing to obtain more information and inquiries regarding the available “Covid-19” vaccines to contact the call centers of the health authorities in the country, which includes the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, the “Response” service at the Operations Command Center of the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, and the Health Authority. In Dubai, and the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health.

Al-Hosani confirmed, in media statements, that all vaccines are subject to strict safety tests, and go through several stages and trials, before agreeing to use them.

Al-Hosani said that "the four vaccines were selected on accurate scientific grounds, and in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the country," noting that they meet the safety and security requirements.

She added that the competent committees are constantly aware of global updates regarding the development of vaccines, and evaluate them periodically, which reflects their keenness to adopt the best treatments.

The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi confirmed the possibility of receiving doses of the “Sinopharma” and “Pfizer-Biontech” vaccines in more than 60 centers and facilities through the “SEHA” network, where those wishing to receive the first and second doses of “Pfizer-Biontech” vaccines. Biontech and the Sinopharm vaccine or the booster dose of the Sinopharm vaccine in all SEHA centers.

They pointed out that the availability of vaccines is one of the country's most important achievements in the battle against the pandemic.
