Loud music from vehicles is one of the most common reasons why Arvika residents contact the police, according to a previous survey.

And the police spend a large part of their resources on patrolling and keeping order during the nights that are otherwise calm.

Previously, the municipality closed large parts of the center for vehicular traffic at night, but it seems to have moved the problem to other streets.

The traffic ban was appealed and during the spring it was lifted by the county administrative board.

The public prosecutor is now investigating the possibility of handing out a fine of SEK 800 for annoying behavior - instead of having to go the more resource-intensive route via reporting and prosecution in court.

A thousand bucks in fines

But, already now the police can give the driver a fine of 1,000 kronor.

In the autumn, a judgment was handed down in Skaraborg District Court, which clarified that the traffic offense unnecessary and disruptive driving in residential buildings also applies to loud music from the vehicle - not just the driving itself.

As it is a traffic offense, it can, in the long run, also affect the driving license.

But, a young man we meet at the gas station in Arvika sees no major danger with it - check out the clip above.
