A development in the labor market that would normally have taken five to ten years has now taken place in just over a year.

- People now ask employers when they are looking for a job, what does it look like with your flexibility after the pandemic.

How much flexibility will I have if I start working for you, says Lena Bjurner, CEO of the Swedish HR Association.

Between 2019 and 31 March this year, the survey company Netigate surveyed 263 companies in eight European countries about employee loyalty to the employer.

The figures show that since the pandemic started, employees have been more satisfied than before.

- We see a marked increase in employee loyalty and satisfaction has risen significantly since 2019 to 2020. Since between the years 2020 and 2021 (up to and including March 31), it is fairly stable, which indicates that very many are satisfied with being able to work away from home part of the time, says Sophie Hedestad, communications director at Netigate.

Want to continue working at home

According to the survey, Swedish employees want to be able to continue working from home for about half of the total working hours.

- Companies and leadership will change fundamentally after the pandemic, says Sophie Hedestad.

SVT conducted a survey with the largest white-collar unions in December 2020. It showed that many employers did not allow teleworking during the pandemic, even though the duties would allow it.

Competitive advantage

- Many have probably had a hard time letting employees work from home, but they have been so badly forced.

There are companies that think that after the pandemic it can be as usual again.

The employees will be in the office again and we can work on.

But I think that those who become winners are those who now take this commitment shot and build on from there, says Lena Bjurner.

- It will be a competitive advantage.

This is something that companies and leaders need to think about and decide on pretty soon.
