The Hong Kong authorities have released an arrested organizer of the annual vigil for the victims of the Tiananmen massacre from custody on bail.

Chow Hang-tung dismissed the allegation of incitement to an unauthorized meeting in front of a police station on Saturday as absurd and a case of abuse of power.

Chow called on the responsible authorities to "open their eyes" and to realize "that you are actually covering up the crime of the 1989 killers".

A total of at least six people were arrested in Hong Kong on Friday.

Prime Minister Carry Lam had declared that the citizens had to respect the law.

On June 4, 1989, the Chinese government put down a student-led reform and protest movement using tanks in Tiananmen Square in Beijing.

The number of victims was never published.

Human rights activists say the death toll could run into the thousands.
