The APEC-Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Council's Ministerial Meeting on Trade was held online and agreed to work on speeding up trade procedures, saying that the production and distribution of vaccines for the new coronavirus need to be accelerated immediately.

APEC's Trade Ministers' Meeting, which includes 21 countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific region, was held online last night (5th) Japan time.



Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kajiyama, who attended from Japan, said, "We should build a supply chain that can flexibly respond to the crisis in order to respond to the new coronavirus and the subsequent economic recovery."



The meeting adopted a joint statement and annex, stating that "the role of vaccination against the new coronavirus needs to be recognized and the production and distribution of safe and quality vaccines must be accelerated immediately."



On top of that, the company plans to speed up customs clearance procedures at airports and ports for vaccines, remove trade barriers such as unnecessary export restrictions, and introduce measures to prevent the influx of counterfeit products.



In addition, it was included to reaffirm the role of the multilateral trading system based on the rules and to cooperate with the reform of the WTO = World Trade Organization, where the dispute resolution system is dysfunctional.
