The Social Democrats:

1. How does your party want to solve the midwifery crisis in Västerbotten?

Above all through better working environment and working hours.

The work as a midwife is stimulating at the same time as it is a round-the-clock activity, every day of the year.

To meet the shortage of midwives, we in the region have offered student salaries for further education.

A total of 39 nurses have furthered their education with a student salary in recent years.

This investment is important and more people are being trained.

The shortage of midwives is national.

Here, all regions need to take their responsibility to offer further education, unfortunately we see that the metropolitan regions do not.

2. Does your party want to see a special wage investment in midwives?

We have made special investments aimed at healthcare and added an extra 18 million to this year's salary pot and increased to 28 million for next year.

3. What promises does your party give to expectant mothers in Västerbotten?

We must have a safe and secure maternity care throughout Västerbotten.

As a prospective parent, you should feel safe both before, during and after your birth.

We Social Democrats stand firm - we will have three births in the county.

We will not disappoint.

Moderates:

1. How does your party want to solve the midwifery crisis in Västerbotten?

Unfortunately, the midwifery crisis is the result of long-term political negligence, so the issue will probably not be resolved for a few weeks.

The moderates want to improve the conditions for a stable midwife staffing in hospital care, among other things by:

Evaluate the midwives' educational background and the fact that they have double credentials - where salary is an important issue.

To achieve this, among other things, the Moderates have a special wage investment in our proposed regional budget.

Improve the working environment, not least through appropriate premises (where the situation in Skellefteå is the worst example of poor premises).

Properly used skills, ie we use the midwives' skills in the right place and reduce the workload.

More training places in midwifery education.

Better conditions for specialist nurses and midwives in training.

2. Does your party want to see a special wage investment in midwives?

We have a special salary investment for specialist skills, such as midwives, in our budget proposal.

3. What promises does your party give to expectant mothers in Västerbotten?

All women in Västerbotten should feel secure that the county's three BBs will be open all year round and around the clock.

Liberals:

1. How does your party want to solve the midwifery crisis in Västerbotten?

By investing in a good working environment for midwives all year round and not least during the summer.

Midwives should also be entitled to 4 consecutive summer holidays together.

A leadership that makes midwives involved in change work.

Invest in continuing education and training. Training must be visible in the salary envelope.

We also invest in experienced midwives in terms of salary.

2. Does your party want to see a special wage investment in midwives?

Yes, we have it in the Liberals' budget for 2021. And with priority especially professionals.

3. What promises does your party give to expectant mothers in Västerbotten?

The Liberals promise that with our policy, all women throughout the county will experience a safe pregnancy and childbirth.

Center Party:

1. How does your party want to solve the midwifery crisis in Västerbotten?

Unfortunately, this is not a problem that only arises this summer, the region has for many years had problems with both the work environment for the delivery staff and scheduling.

In addition, there are not enough training places for those who want to further their education.

The pressure on midwifery education in Umeå is great and an average of 2 per year from our region comes in.

The Center Party believes that it is now time to start commissioned training in the region so that we can train more midwives for a period and get a better balance to our needs.

The motion to the regional council is submitted today, Friday.

2. Does your party want to see a special wage investment in midwives?

Yes, we set aside SEK 10 million in the Center Party's budget as a targeted investment in maternity care throughout the county.

3. What promises does your party give to expectant mothers in Västerbotten?

The Center Party will work to make Västerbotten the country's best region when it comes to maternity care and pregnancy.

We achieve this with better working conditions, more midwives, greater flexibility between employees in maternity care and maternity care and also by setting up midwife-led clinics in the region.

We also want to increase support for parents after the birth.

(Lars Bäckström)

Christian Democrats:

We reduce the costs for rental staff and instead invest in safeguarding the region's own staff.

Some examples are loyalty bonuses, as well as a special investment for nurses who train as midwives.

The staff crisis at the county's BB clinics cannot continue.

Left Party:

1. How does your party want to solve the midwifery crisis in Västerbotten?

Everyone who wants good medical care, such as maternity care, regardless of which region one lives in, must realize that it must cost more.

Instead of the large tax cuts that have been made over 10-15 years, for example, care could have been developed and strengthened throughout the country with increased funding from the state.

With better finances for healthcare, the opportunity is created to invest sensibly.

Even before the pandemic, it was clear that the health care in the country had too little money based on what society wants it to do.

Salary is important, but good working hours / sensible schedules are at least as important to many if jobs in childbirth are to be a future.

We want to continue with ongoing efforts for a good working environment, the right staffing, security, maintaining competence, good training of new people.

Money has been spent on study grants - further education for midwives and pediatric nurses.

39 are now fully trained and 6 are in progress, if I have not mixed up the numbers.

Increased staffing and wage investment to retain competence inland.

In order to maintain good competence and quality in a small birth like Lycksele, there must also be good cooperation between the maternity units in the region, as it does today.

2. Does your party want to see a special wage investment in midwives?

We propose more money for wage investment in the budget, it is reasonable that midwives are among the priorities.

But better schedules and working hours also cost, and can be quite important.

3. What promises does your party give to expectant mothers in Västerbotten?

That we would like to see better salaries and schedules / conditions for the staff.

But for better finances to be required, state tax cuts should be replaced with money for health care.

Good care costs - There are no free lunches.

Support via MVC / BVC before and after childbirth is also important to prioritize.
