The police authority in the North has checked around 250,000 people who have come to Sweden after the borders were closed in February.

The largest border traffic has been in Haparanda.

Only Öresund traffic from Denmark has been greater than at the Haparanda border.

Want to return to normal

- We are relieved to be able to switch to our regular activities such as law enforcement and implement promised citizen promises, says police chief Lars Öberg.

However, he is worried about the happy snus buyers from Finland.

- I hope that people are careful and do not cross the border into Sweden unnecessarily.

The call: No pleasure trips

Lars Öberg wants to remind people from neighboring countries about the high infection rates in Norrbotten.

- People should not think that now the danger is over because Sweden has stopped with border controls.

But according to the police chief, there are also positive things about the police's efforts against the pandemic.

- We have worked with colleagues from all over Sweden together with the Swedish Customs and created a network that we will certainly benefit from in the future.
