The historic former head of ETA
María Soledad Iparraguirre Guenechea
, 'Anboto', will be transferred from the Madrid prison where she was admitted to one in the Basque Country "for judicial reasons and as a preventive prisoner", as reported by the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions.
'Anboto' - sentenced to 181 years in prison for ordering three terrorist actions, including the assassination of the Army Commander Luciano Cortizo, perpetrated in 1995 in León - was the 'voice' of the terrorist gang to communicate the end of the violence.
He still has open cases in the National Court and will go from Madrid I to the Alava prison.
Along with her, Interior has arranged the transfer to prisons near the Basque Country of three other ETA members: José Ignacio Cruchaga Elezcano for the attack that ended the lives
of Ernest Lluch and
Francisco Ruiz Romero and
Alberto Viedma Morillas,
convicted of the crime of Tomás Knight in Pamplona in 1998.
Cruchaga Elezcano
, with a 121-year sentence and in prison since 2001, will be transferred from Almería to León and in July 2023 he will serve 374 parts of his sentence.
Ruiz Romero, for his part, is serving a cumulative sentence of 30 years and 15 days and will go from Murcia II prison to León.
He entered prison on March 4, 2002 and in November of that year he will serve 3/4 of his sentence, as specified by the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions.
The last ETA member is
Alberto Viedma Morillas
.
He is in the Almería jail and will go to the Topas jail (Salamanca).
He entered prison on March 4, 2002 and is serving a cumulative 30-year sentence for the crimes of murder, attempted murder, belonging to an armed gang, and weapons storage and trafficking.
He will serve 3/4 of the sentence in November 2022 and has been progressed to second degree.
In his case, in 2003 he was sentenced to 30 years in prison as responsible for the murder of
Tomás Caballero
and then to 30 years as the author of the murder of Francisco Casanova.
He was also convicted of the attempted murder of Army Second Lieutenant José Díez Pareja in the Navarran town of Cizur Mayor in 2001.
