In May, Facebook's supervisory committee upheld the suspension imposed on the former president of the United States following the invasion of the Capitol by his supporters on January 6 in Washington.

Donald Trump's suspension was effective from the original date in January and will only be reinstated if conditions permit, Facebook said.

"

The move comes on the same day that European and UK competition authorities launched investigations into possible anti-competitive behavior by Facebook in the online advertising industry.
