According to Usher, her death "could be the first signal that the virus can be transmitted from person to person."
Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that intelligence services had not come to a final conclusion about the origins of COVID-19.
At the end of March, China urged the World Health Organization to investigate versions of the coronavirus leak from the US military laboratory "Fort Detrick" and laboratories in other countries.
A WHO report from an expert group trip to China said the laboratory origin of the coronavirus was "highly unlikely."
