The president of the EBB of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzar, has affirmed that with the pardons to the leaders of the 'procés' "it is not enough" and the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, must "take advantage of it to do pedagogy and begin to speak with some clarity on the problem that the Spanish State has with its territorial model ".

In an interview in El Correo, collected by Europa Press, the Jeltzale leader also wonders why the leaders of the 'procés' are going to regret something that "they believe was not wrong and did not cause harm to anyone."

In addition, it indicates that Spaniards have to accept that Catalonia and the Basque Country "cannot stay within the Spanish State with the feeling that they are subjugated."

After considering that the pardons to the leaders of the Catalan 'procés' "are necessary", he considers, however, that "it is not enough to begin to retrace all the errors that the State has committed in Catalonia."

In his opinion, the grace measure goes "in the right direction" and argues that what Sánchez would have to do is "take advantage of this to do pedagogy and begin to speak with some clarity about the problem that the Spanish State has with its territorial model. ".

In this way, he argues that the next step for the Prime Minister should be "to sit at the dialogue table that has been agreed with the Catalan institutions and with ERC."

"Now there is going to be a president who does believe in that dialogue, unlike the previous one. It is true that Junts is skeptical, but we must give the table a chance. They are going to put the aspirations of Catalonia on top of it to reach agreements, the same thing that we will do when the moment of our new status arrives ", he warns, to add that this will happen" when the conditions are met, but it is not far off. "

As detailed, that will happen in the current legislature, but affirms that "first we have to do our homework in Euskadi", among which is to reactivate the presentation of Self-government "for the autumn, without any hurry."

"It is not a tactical movement. It is that it coincides and it is time to do it. Things had to happen in Catalonia, that there was a Government, that the prisoners were released from jail ... That is going to take place between now and autumn, like this "Now is the time. There are two long years left in the legislature and we must take advantage of them. I am not saying that the final agreements will be reached in this legislature, hopefully! But in this legislature we must put these issues on the table, yes" .

In his opinion, at the dialogue table in Catalonia, the central government knows that they are going to have to listen to talk about amnesty and self-determination, and "from there it will be necessary to see if there is a shared framework of play."

Referendum agreed

Among the possible solutions, Ortuzar indicates an agreed referendum "as the end of the process", but believes that "putting it now as a 'sine qua non' condition is very difficult" and first we must talk about "the tangible reality, the political situation, economic and social of Catalonia, and its relationship with the State ".

In the opinion of the nationalist leader, Spaniards have to accept that Catalonia and the Basque Country "cannot stay within the Spanish State with the feeling that they are subjugated, they cannot be unhappy".

"If the Spaniards aspire for Catalonia and the Basque Country to continue being part of the Spanish State, they will have to create the conditions so that this is possible, so that there is a comfort clause so that we can share a State. We will never share a nation, but there is a model of the State. And it will be necessary to create the conditions, and agree on them, not impose them, "he insists.

On the other hand, it accuses the Spanish Judicial Power of not being "reliable or neutral", but rather acts as a "counter-power to maintain the centralized state model that is impervious to change."

"The judges of the Supreme Court, apart from having lost the north of what their role is, they have lost their legitimacy. I no longer trust those people. And the president of the second oldest party in Congress says so. I don't trust anything. of the Spanish Justice, nothing. I abide because I have no other choice, "he acknowledges.

In addition, he wonders why the leaders of the 'procés' are going to regret something that "they believe was not bad and that it did not cause harm to anyone."

Likewise, Ortuzar acknowledges that he is happy about Pablo Iglesias' farewell to politics, since "politically, its effect has been much more negative than positive", in such a way that "for Spanish politics it is good that he has taken a step aside ".

Finally, it shows its concern about the transfer of the Minimum Income and accuses Escrivá of being "an obstacle minister."

"I hope someone removes it quickly. That is a very relevant agreement, for what it means, but also because the formula with which it is made can change future transfers. Escrivá wants to change the rules and subcontract the competition to us as if we were an ETT. If it is not done well, it will fail the institutional loyalty and trust of the PNV, "he warns.
