During the period January to May 2020, the region gave a total of 2,358 doses against TBE.

During the same period this year, it was 1,737. And in comparison with the years before that, there is a large decrease: in 2019, 7,245 doses were given and in 2018 almost as many.

In total, this is a halving of the doses given to adults and two thirds less to children.

It is not only in the region that fewer people have been vaccinated against the tick-borne virus.

At Apoteket and Doktor24, this is a reduction of 40 percent.

The pandemic may have been recorded

Signar Mäktilao believes that one reason may be that many have been vaccinated in previous years and that there is therefore less need now.

But most likely, the pandemic has had an effect.

- It can be a displacement effect of disease and other things that covid-19 has given rise to, he says.

What can fewer vaccinations have consequences, and is it too late for those who have not started vaccination before the summer?
