Al-Jazeera correspondent reported the arrival of an Egyptian intelligence delegation to the Gaza Strip on Friday morning, on its third visit since the end of the Israeli war on the Strip a week ago.

This visit comes with the aim of following up the efforts to establish the truce and the cease-fire between the Palestinian resistance factions and Israel.

Regarding the significance of this visit, Al-Jazeera correspondent Wael al-Dahdouh said that the Egyptian mediator in the ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian resistance and Israel attaches great importance to the consolidation of the agreement, which is considered temporary and fragile, especially since Israel has not fulfilled its entitlements, such as opening the crossings and facilitating the entry of needs into the Strip. The visit may come to explore the details with the Palestinian side.

The reporter suggested that this visit, headed by Major General Ahmed Abdel-Khaleq, responsible for the Palestinian file in the Egyptian General Intelligence, would be a prelude to the arrival of a high-ranking figure in the Egyptian intelligence service, who may be the head of the agency, Abbas Kamel, to the Gaza Strip in the coming days to stabilize the truce.

This is the third visit by an Egyptian delegation to Gaza since the ceasefire in the Strip, as the first visit took place on May 21, and the second on May 23.

In both visits, the Egyptian delegation held meetings with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which runs the Gaza Strip, and they discussed several files, most notably the consolidation of the cease-fire and the reconstruction of Gaza.

World Health Organization

On the other hand, the World Health Organization called for facilitating access to patients in the Gaza Strip, and evacuating them to receive the necessary treatment.

The organization's spokeswoman in Geneva, Fadela Al-Shayeb, said that about 600 patients in Gaza, some of them with chronic diseases, needed to be transferred outside the Gaza Strip since the start of the latest Israeli escalation, but this was not possible due to the closure of the Gaza crossings.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera, the head of the World Health Organization in the Palestinian territories, Richard Pepper Korn, said that the United Nations had made an urgent appeal to provide ninety million dollars to support vital sectors in Gaza, including the health sector.

On April 13, the situation in the Palestinian territories erupted as a result of brutal attacks committed by the occupation police and settlers in occupied Jerusalem, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque and Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, in an attempt to evacuate 12 Palestinian homes and hand them over to settlers.

At dawn on May 21, a ceasefire took effect between the Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza and Israel, after 11 days of fighting.

The Israeli aggression on the Palestinian territories resulted in 288 martyrs, including 69 children, 40 women and 17 elderly people, in addition to more than 8900 injured, as well as the destruction of hundreds of housing units, government headquarters and economic facilities.

On the other hand, 13 Israelis were killed and hundreds wounded during the response of the factions in Gaza to the aggression by firing missiles at Israel.
