A 23-year-old young man has been arrested accused of having attacked a leader of the Alava PP, after asking him if he belonged to that party, and his companions when they were on the terrace of a bar in the Alava capital.
The Ertzaintza has confirmed this arrest and the PP has explained in a statement how the events took place yesterday afternoon outside a hotel restaurant located on
Cuchillería street in the city
, where the PP vice secretary in Álava was sitting. and former councilor of the City Council of his capital, Iñaki García Calvo, with three friends.
In the note, García Calvo explains that they were approached by some strangers who asked him if he was from the PP "with a clear ideological motivation", they told him that he had to leave the place and
threw two glasses of drink over him
.
As he got up from the table, he says, another person smacked him.
His three friends were assaulted and one of them received a blow that caused a gap in his eyebrow.
The Department of Security has reported that
six more men joined the attack
, that the four victims required health care and that one of them had to be taken by ambulance to a hospital for a bleeding wound on his face.
The deputy secretary of Communication of the PP of Álava presented the complaint to the Ertzaintza, which detained one of the allegedly implicated persons and which keeps open the police inquiries to clarify these facts, which he considers to have apparently originated
"for ideological reasons." .
The president of the Basque PP, Carlos Iturgaiz, has denounced this aggression on his Twitter account, for which he has blamed "radical vermin".
Furthermore, he congratulated the Ertzaintza and demanded a "condemnation without nuances" of EH Bildu after lamenting that in the Basque Country "there are still pro-ETA ghettos and a lack of freedom."
